We Need Your Help

Hello Internet-lings,

I took a small break from drawing adoptable pets for professional reasons. Now that the Singular Fortean Society has a leg up into its second year of being around, I'd like to get back to work on the Enchanted Animals Project. However, I realize that this labor of love is bigger than what I am humanly capable of creating, and there are lots of lives to save and a lot of work to be done. I wish I could save them all, and it's hard to not try and do that by myself because the drive for this cause is real. I have two amazing rescue animals at home that are the most loving companions you could ask for. I wish this for all animals without a home. Everyone needs a home.

I need help with this project. Maybe then we can truly make a difference.

I've decided that Enchanted Animals has to be a movement. How amazing would it be if other creatives joined the cause and saved even more animals? Pets are adopted, artists are promoted--everyone wins! I had a great unintentional test period for the 5 months I did this project solo with Underdog Pet Rescue, Bay Area Humane Society, and Fetch Rescue Wisconsin. The project had a lot of success and people enjoyed seeing the unique, whimsical illustrations of dogs and cats in need of homes. I personally will continue to work with the rescues I'm currently connected with, but with my work as part of a bigger picture. I've connected with my contacts at the rescue groups who are already partnered as well as a few creative contacts to get things going. We want to contact shelters and rescue groups far and wide and match them with artists that can do the same thing I have been doing.

How can you help?

If you are affiliated with a shelter or rescue group, we encourage you to partner with us. Your role in this project would be to provide information on adoptable animals (typically a long term stay or special case) for an artist to render and then promote in hopes that their creativity will catch potential adopters' eyes.

If you are an artist, please join our cause! It doesn't matter if you are a photographer, illustrator, painter, sculptor, or digital designer. All mediums and styles are welcome! In joining the cause, we connect you with a shelter and you would create one piece of work a month at minimum of an adoptable pet you can promote in your portfolio or otherwise.

It doesn't matter if you aren't connected directly to animal rescue or aren't a maker of any kind. We all have a voice (especially now, with social media) and simply spreading the word of the Enchanted Animals mission makes all the difference.

Our team is currently working on brainstorming logistics, recruiting artists and shelters, and getting the project underway. I personally am getting back to work illustrating for Underdog and Bay Area Humane Society mid-June, but if you are interested in helping with this project in any way, shape, or form please contact me or contact us at enchantedanimalsproject@gmail.com and we will send you a project overview and find a way that you can participate and help us.

I can't wait to see where this project goes, and I hope it grows into something powerful for those creatures we take into our lives that ask for so little, but give so much.

Thank you,

The Girl in the Unicorn Pajamas
